Rockwell Collins avionics to be featured on German Army CH-53 G

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (August 27, 2007) - Rockwell Collins has been awarded a contract from Eurocopter Deutschland to develop a German Avionics Management System (GAMS) for the German Army CH-53 G helicopter. The first two qualification/verification aircraft are scheduled for delivery in mid-2009.

"Rockwell Collins' growing relationship with Eurocopter marks our commitment to expanding our presence in Europe," said Artur Redeker, Managing Director, Rockwell Collins Deutschland. "Our expertise in systems integration and advanced avionics will provide the CH-53 G with the equipment it needs to stay on the forefront of avionics technology."

The GAMS will be based on Rockwell Collins' Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) and integrated into the new glass cockpit of the CH-53 G helicopter. This system will provide a modular open system architecture (OSA) cockpit and mission management system that includes a flight management system, new navigation sensors, five displays and a communication suite tailored and adapted specifically to German Army requirements.

A majority of the development and production of GAMS is being performed by Rockwell Collins Deutschland located in Heidelberg, Germany.
