Rockwell Collins deliver pilot controls on schedule for Boeing 787 test vehicle
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (July 17, 2006) - Rockwell Collins recently delivered the 787 Dreamliner's first fully operational pilot control system to Boeing. The system
was delivered on schedule and will be used to develop an integrated test vehicle to ensure all 787 Flight Controls systems
are functional, before building the actual aircraft.
"The 787's pilot control system provides capabilities to enhance safety and performance, and offers operational commonality
with other Boeing flight decks," said Kelly Ortberg, vice president and general manager of Air Transport Systems for Rockwell
Collins. "We are proud to be part of yet another important milestone in bringing the 787 Dreamliner closer to reality."
Rockwell Collins' latest generation of pilot controls on the 787 include the control stand with throttle, speedbreak, and
flap control modules, the pitch, roll and yaw primary pilot controls, and their interfaces to the aircraft's fly-by-wire system.
The modular design of the pilot controls will simplify installation and maintenance. In addition, Rockwell Collins has worked
closely with Boeing to design a more modern look for the controls, giving the flight deck a more advanced look.

and surveillance systems, core network and the aircraft's common data network. Rockwell Collins also serves as the systems
