Rockwell Collins announces additional FAB-T contract for displays
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (August 08, 2005) - Rockwell Collins, a leader in advanced display technology, has been selected by Harris Government Communication Systems, Melbourne,
Florida, to supply displays for airborne and ground communication terminals for the Family of Advanced Beyond Line-of-Sight
Terminals (FAB-T) program for the U.S Air Force.
The contract includes the design, development, test and delivery of Engineering, Manufacturing and Development (EMD) units
for two types of displays that will be used on strategic aircraft and ground communication locations.
"This contract win is significant for Rockwell Collins because it broadens our product base into ground and airborne mission
terminals," said John Borghese, vice president and general manager of Rockwell Collins' Display Systems. "This also expands
our display portfolio with a series of new displays sizes that provide robust features and operate in severe threat and electromagnetic
environments."
This selection reinforces Rockwell Collins position in the FAB-T program. The company was selected in September 2003 as part
of the Boeing team in the development of FAB-T for the U.S. Air Force. FAB-T will upgrade existing satellite communications
for advanced extremely high frequency (AEHF) modes, meeting the government's next-generation satellite communications requirements.
The upgrade allows for increased data capacity and a much faster data transfer rate between airborne platforms and ground
command posts. The family of terminals will be used with the MILSTAR satellite constellation, currently being upgraded by
the military, to ensure protected, survivable, worldwide communications.
Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) is a leader in the design, production and support of communication and aviation electronic solutions
for government and commercial customers worldwide. Additional company information is available at www.rockwellcollins.com.
