Rockwell Collins hits 50,000 sales mark of SAASM product

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (June 21, 2005) - Rockwell Collins has reached the 50,000 unit sales milestone for its Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM).

“This milestone demonstrates that Rockwell Collins has proven to be a low-risk SAASM provider to our military customers,” said Ron Hornish, vice president of Sensors Systems for Rockwell Collins. “Rockwell Collins SAASM is a core component of the highly successful Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR) and ground-based GPS receiver application module (GB-GRAM). Both are providing real-time situational awareness capabilities for U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, and coalition forces with the U.K.-lead BOWMAN program. We believe our SAASM solution will provide best value for future programs.”

The Rockwell Collins SAASM is a single, tamper-resistant multi-chip security module that can be combined with other components and software into a complete GPS receiver.  The latest version of the Rockwell Collins SAASM is extremely small and consumes very little power.

Rockwell Collins was the first in the industry to receive security approval for production of the SAASM that incorporates a next-generation Precise Positioning Service (PPS) security module.  Rockwell Collins passed the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Security Baseline Review and has received certification for its in-house facility that treats the SAASM-based GPS receivers with a tamper-resistant coating to ensure safeguarding of classified military GPS data.  Additionally, Rockwell Collins provides the only SAASM-based receiver that is unclassified when keyed with Selective Availability turned on.

In 2002, the U.S. DoD mandated that all GPS equipment be outfitted with SAASM modules, including the operational software, to ensure that military GPS data is safeguarded. This software provides users with additional features that include black keys (unclassified) and full SAASM Security Critical Functions.

Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) is a leader in the design, production and support of communications and aviation electronics solutions for government and commercial customers worldwide.  Additional information is available at www.rockwellcollins.com.
