Dassault selects Rockwell Collins for its Falcon business jets cabins; advanced all-digital cabin electronics system brings increased functionality to Falcon cabins

LAS VEGAS (October 11, 2004) - Rockwell Collins announced today that the company has been selected by Dassault Aviation to provide the Falcon Cabin Management System.  It will be offered as an option for the Falcon family, including the Falcon 900DX, 900EX, 2000EX and the new 7X business jet aircraft beginning with mid-2006 deliveries.  The system will be based on Rockwell Collins’ next-generation Airshow 21 system.

“The Falcon Cabin Management System will allow Dassault to bring numerous services to our customers including global office and an advanced digital video and audio distribution system,” said Eric Monsel, vice president of Programs for Dassault Falcon Jet.  “Customers will select from a menu of custom options including high-speed data and satellite communications.

The Airshow 21 system is designed around the needs of today’s business jet passengers.  The system’s fully integrated functionality, including cabin control, entertainment and global office, allows Falcon owners the choice to relax and enjoy exceptionally high quality audio/video, or efficiently work in a global office environment.  In addition the Airshow 21 system offers the flexibility to allow personalization of the cabin system during completion.

Falcon aircraft passengers will have the benefits of a fully-networked global office, through a seamless, end-to-end solution that includes high-speed satellite data communications, an onboard data router and wired networking bringing Ethernet connectivity to each seat, or through an optional wireless local area network.

The system features a fully IEEE 1394b digital backbone which is ideal for distributing audio/video content as well as digital data content.  The cabin management system is designed to enable users to seamlessly control cabin lighting and temperature as well as digital audio and video to in-seat monitors, headsets, cabin speakers and bulkhead monitors throughout the cabin.  The system is designed to support future functionality and growth.

The advanced design is based on a ring topology, minimizing point-to-point wiring.  The system is self-healing, intelligently rerouting data in case of a failure. The plug-and-play feature allows for installation flexibility practically anywhere in the cabin. Falcon operators will also have access to Rockwell Collins’ global support network including more than 250 dealers and 80 customer support engineers positioned to support the cabin solutions.

Since the rollout of the first Falcon 20 in 1963, over 1600 Falcon jets have been delivered to more than 65 countries worldwide.
